Single Art for the song “Story Teller” by Real Friends
Every single time someone asks about this photograph they typically ask how it was made and I proudly say that 80% of it was in camera. Three of the guys in Colour In the Clouds put together a box and filled it up with dirt. We had collected some peonies over the week to put in the grave with these two models. Count them, there are 27 Flowers just like the song suggests. At the time I had been living in a place that had a balcony attached to my bedroom where I was able to overlook the backyard where they two girls were in. I had assistance from my friend, Sarah, and she helped shift the girls as well as the flowers in the grave. I quit eating meat a long time ago so having to scour the city for a heart was something that I was both excited for as well as a little disturbed about doing. I had the vision for the photograph for this band in mind, though, and intended on getting it done. The model, though, didn't have the stomach or the heart either so they ended up being two separate photographs that I took just a few minutes apart. I feel like after attending art school if there is one thing I can do now, though, is create different kinds of fake blood.
"Nice morning wood" - Every person that thinks they are funny enough to comment on the photograph or on the song. What's actually funny, though, is the fact that the song is based on the Depression series which features Nymphomaniac. Keeping with the "nude" theme that we seemed to be going on for the Colour In The Clouds singles we took this photo of the model in one of my old studio spaces and then I documented some photos while on tour with them in the autumn.
